What brings a professor from Australia to Capps Middle School?
𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.
Putnam City Schools was honored to welcome Professor Wesley Imms from the University of Melbourne to Capps Middle School. His visit highlighted our role in a global study focused on how learning environments impact student success. The DLR Group, who designed Capps, joined him in exploring how thoughtful design can support teaching and learning. We’re proud to represent Putnam City in this international research effort and excited to share the insights ahead.
🦊 We even had a surprise visit from a fox and her baby enjoying the Capps campus. Wonder if that fox knows Capps is home of the Wildcats…

Due to the potential for severe weather in our area this afternoon and evening, we are closely monitoring conditions and updates from the National Weather Service.
As a precaution, all after-school activities and tonight’s School Board meeting have been canceled. The School Board meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 22, at 5:00 pm.
We will continue to monitor the situation and consult with the National Weather Service. Should conditions worsen, we will provide additional updates regarding other safety-related decisions.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community.

💙🎓 The Class of 2025 left their mark on Putnam City West, and now they’ve crossed the stage and stepped boldly into what comes next. Patriots: from your first day to your final walk, we’ve been cheering for you!

Good afternoon, West Families, Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our graduates, families, and staff, we have made the difficult decision to have our 2025 Commencement Ceremony inside the West Auditorium. Families will enter through the west entrance for bus pick up and proceed down Patriot Hall. Families will have two marked tickets that will be allowed to sit in the auditorium. Other guests will be allowed to sit in the Old Gym where the ceremony will be simulcast.
The event will also be available for live-streaming here: https://www.youtube.com/live/B6WdtyafkP4?feature=shared
We understand this is not optimal, but appreciate your flexibility as we adjust to ensure a safe event for everyone. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you tonight! - E. Smith, Principal
