Extended Child Care
To support busy families, select Putnam City elementary schools provide an afterschool care program. This program begins at the end of the school day, and all children must be picked up by 6:00 p.m.
*D.D. Kirkland's latest pick-up time is 5:30pm. Kirkland also offers Before Care with a drop-off time of 7:30am.
Children are provided with healthy snacks after school. Daily activities are scheduled in various locations, including outdoor areas (weather permitting), the computer lab, gym, action-based learning labs, and cafeteria. The Extended Care program is staffed by fully trained professionals.
Please be aware that school participation is not guaranteed. Each school determines whether to offer the program based on community interest, needs, and staffing availability. As a result, the list of participating schools may change from year to year.
Offerings
Putnam City offers three different types of Extended Care.
Full-time enrollment is for students attending 4-5 days per week.
Part-time enrollment is for students attending 2-3 days per week.
Scheduled Day Enrollment is available to students attending Extended Care 1 day per week.
To ensure the program is adequately staffed each day, drop-in Extended Care is not available. All students must be enrolled in one of the designated Extended Care plans before attending. While we understand and empathize with the fact that each family’s situation is unique, we are currently unable to offer reduced rates for children attending Extended Care on an alternating weekly basis.

Those with overdue fees (1 school day) will not be eligible for continued participation until balances are paid in full.
There is no reduced rate or refund for children who are ill or absent. If a child has an extended illness (two weeks+), please contact your school’s Extended Care Director or Financial Secretary to discuss financial arrangements.
The number of school days in the year are averaged out over 10 months. All breaks and scheduled non-school days have been pre calculated in our monthly invoicing to avoid prorated monthly invoices.
