Transportation Student Conduct Policy

The Transportation Department is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of nearly 8,000 students on nearly 80 routes every day. In order to provide this level of transportation, students are expected to adhere to a strict set of Safety Guidelines. Parents are encouraged to review these guidelines regularly.

Bus Safety Guidelines for Students and Passengers

To ensure the safe operation of district transportation services, the following safety expectations apply to all students and passengers:

  1. Responsibility for Compliance

It is the responsibility of both the student and the parent/legal guardian to review, understand, and comply with all Bus Safety Guidelines established by the Putnam City Public Schools Transportation Department. Lack of knowledge or familiarity with the Bus Safety Guidelines shall not be considered a valid defense or excuse in the event of a violation resulting in disciplinary action.

  2. Application of District Policies

All policies, rules, and regulations of Putnam City Public Schools apply at all times to students and passengers while boarding, riding, or departing from district-operated school buses. Any violation of the Bus Safety Guidelines and/or Putnam City Public Schools Policies by students or passengers may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the Bus Discipline Action Plan and applicable district policies.
