BUS DISCIPLINE ACTION PLAN

BUS MIRROR

The discipline steps listed below are the ones normally followed to correct inappropriate behavior.  However, steps may be altered if the behavior requires a more severe disciplinary action. The driver and/or monitor is responsible for taking appropriate responsibility to ensure that students are abiding by the Bus Rules and Safety Guidelines. This means that verbal warnings and seats assigned by the driver are necessary steps for the Bus Discipline Action Plan, but they are also not considered or required when further enforcing the Bus Discipline Action Plan.

 PARENT CONTACT
FORM-WARNING:The driver may send home a Parent Contact Form (half-sheet) for minor behavior issues including but not limited to minor safety violations (improper seating, not keeping the aisle clear, etc.), eating and/or drinking on the bus, noise distractions (excessive yelling, screaming, or cell phones). Parent Contact Form must be returned by the morning of the second day (Ex. Form sent home Friday must be returned on Monday). If a Parent Contact Form is not returned, the driver is to fill out a Student Conduct Report (Write-up). Serious issues bypass this step (i.e., hitting, horseplaying, extreme disobedience/disrespect to the driver). A parent contact form will serve as the warning for the student.  Note: A driver may bypass the Half-Sheet at their discretion for any reason and with approval from the Student Discipline Supervisor. Only one (1) parent contact form will be sent home per incident.

FIRST WRITE-UP:
3-DAY BUS SUSPENSION Any behavior not classified as minor behavior issues will bypass the Parent Contact Form. Behaviors include but are not limited to serious safety violations, hitting others, destruction of school property, etc. If a Parent Contact Form (half-sheet) was not sent home with the student, the Student Discipline Supervisor may, using his/her best judgment, contact the parent by phone and/or email to discuss the behavior and provide a warning to the parent and student. If a parent contact form has been sent home for the student, or the Student Discipline Supervisor decides that a more serious consequence is warranted, the student will receive their 1st bus suspension, which is 3 days (Authorized Transportation Staff can give more days should the situation warrant).

 SECOND WRITE-UP:
5-DAY BUS SUSPENSION

 THIRD WRITE-UP:
10-DAY BUS SUSPENSION

 FOURTH WRITE-UP:
SUSPENSION FOR REMAINDER SEMESTER

 ANY FURTHER INCIDENTS:
TERMINATION OF SERVICE

The following major/zero-tolerance behavior problems have a MINIMUM disciplinary action (final determination for disciplinary action will be at the discretion of the Student Discipline Supervisor, Assistant Director, or Director of Transportation based on circumstances of each incident) action that will be taken:
