#PCStudentSuccess: 🍎🍏Planting Seeds Of Apples And Kindness🍎🍏
The second graders at Northridge Elementary celebrated Johnny Appleseed Day this week by making apple pies together! Through the story of Johnny Appleseed, they learned valuable lessons about kindness, generosity, and the importance of nature. They also explored how apple trees change with the seasons and discovered how one small apple seed—or a simple act of kindness—can make a big difference in the world around them.

🌱 PCN Home Of Rare Milkweed Plant Species 🦋
A rare plant species, the Zizotes Milkweed, is growing at Putnam City North! The Outdoor Classroom at PCN is a vibrant place for all types of plants, insects, and now the rare milkweed. A Conservation Biologist from the OKC Zoo came out and surveyed the plants this week and found about 20 more milkweed plants growing. There are 29 recordings of this rare milkweed in Oklahoma, 5 in Oklahoma County, and 2 of those are at PCN! We can't wait for all the monarch butterflies to find the milkweed plants next!

#PCBondProjects: 🔄Centenial Center Loading... 🔄
🏗️We’re excited to share that the Centennial Center is quickly coming to life! This project broke ground in June and marks the final piece of the 2014 Bond, which has already delivered incredible upgrades for our district: new band uniforms, athletic equipment, textbooks, technology, fine arts gear, the new Capps Middle School, and two additional stadiums at PC West and PC North.
🎭 Additionally, we addressed the loss of the Capps Middle School auditorium by adding a new Performing Arts Hall, thanks to the 2017 Momentum Bond. This new facility will be a mid-size venue perfect for elementary and middle school events, and a flexible space for professional development. This will also help avoid any scheduling issues for multiple student organizations when spaces like the high school auditoriums are unavailable.
👀 Stay tuned for updates on the upcoming 2025 Innovation Bond! You won’t want to miss out on being part of our District’s exciting growth and enhancing the educational experience for our students!

🤑 FUNdraising at Northridge ends with slime 🤑
Slime was the grand finale of the Fun Run at Northridge Elementary today. These fundraising efforts took buckets of dedication; dedication of the students and families for raising all the money, and dedication of our amazing teachers and principal for willing to get slimed!

#PCAthletics: 🏈Two Schools, One Football, And A Whole Lot of Pride🏈
Last night was the first sister school game of the 2024 football season between the Putnam City High Pirates and the Putnam City West Patriots. This rivalry always brings out the best in both teams, turning what starts as just a game into the driving force behind their school spirit. It was a battle of skill, heart, and tradition on the gridiron that resulted in the Pirates bringing home the bragging rights...until next year

#PCBondProjects: 🎨 New Art Room Sets A Blank Canvas For A New School Year🎨
Thanks to a previous bond, our budding artists now have a space to let their creativity shine! ✨ The new art room at Windsor Hills is a game changer for their imagination and learning! This is proof that when a community invests in education, creativity flourishes for our students across the District!

#PCProud: 📣Building School Spirit From The Bottom To The Top📣
In the spirit of tonight's sister schools game, the Putnam City West football, cheer, and pom teams brought energy to the morning assemblies. They sang, danced, and celebrated awards with the WOES Warriors, Lake Park Lions, and Hilldale Tigers. Once not long ago, these big kids were little ones, dreaming of doing what they do now. Today, that same dream is being passed down as the younger kids watch them, imagining being under the Friday Night Lights one day.

🤗 Goodies with Grandparents 🧡
It takes a village, and of course, that includes the Grandparents! The Grands were spotted at DD Kirkland and Ralph Downs this week eating sweet treats, drinking coffee, and playing with the littles to start their day off right. These sweet relationships truly demonstrate how it takes everyone to make every beat count for a child to learn and grow.

📖 Representative Ellyn Hefner Reads to Hilldale 3rd Graders 🏛️
The Hilldale Tigers got a lesson on where their clothing comes from as State Representative Ellyn Hefner read a book to a third grade class this morning. They had a lot of great questions for Rep. Hefner, some on-topic, some off-topic, but all questions are good questions! 🤗

Kids will truly say the best things, including one today asking Dr. Rhodes, "Are you the President?" 🤓

#BePresentBeBold: ⬇️ Avoiding Compulsory Attendance Violations ⬇️
Students Absent without a valid excuse lead to Compulsory Attendance Violations. Here's how:
➡️Absent for 4+ days or 8 parts of days days within a 4-week period
➡️Per Semester: 10+ consecutive absences or 20 parts of days
🔴 How can this be avoided? It's simple. Just make sure all absences are communicated to your student's school so they can be coded correctly. Above all- just "Be Present. Be Bold!"

#PCAthletics: 🏆️ Living In the Hall of Fame Where Everyone Knows Your Name🏆️

#PCBondProjects: ☀️ Less Than 1,000 Degrees Outside Calls For Fun In The Sun 🛝
Over the summer, the Western Oaks Elementary Warriors received new playground equipment and an artificial turf soccer field to enhance their outdoor recess and learning experiences. Since school has been in session it's been too hot for the Warriors to be outside, but today they got to enjoy the new equipment and there was no shortage of energy and Vitamin D! 😁

#PCProud: 😁 First Day Vibes: All Smiles, All Excitement! ✅️
For some, today might have been filled with anxious feelings, but it was absolutely evident that our students were excited to see our staff and their peers they missed throughout the summer.
😎 Bright smiles were plentiful, hearts were fluttering with excitement, and the shining sun made all the things that much better!
