VIRTUAL EDUCATION
Get the education you want, when and where you want it.
Our Belief
As educators, we realize that while many students benefit from traditional approaches to school, there are other conditions in which learning can take place. Putnam City Virtual School is a resource for parents and students looking for an alternative approach to traditional schooling.
We Offer
Putnam City Virtual is a free, online education for middle and high school students residing within the Putnam City school district. For the 2024-25 school year, the last day to enroll in fall virtual school classes is Wednesday, August 28th. The last day to enroll into the spring semester virtual classes is Friday, January 17th.
Putnam City Virtual
Putnam City has partnered with Edgenuity to complement our educational offerings. Edgenuity has certified teachers and is an established leader in developing and providing quality 3-12 content.
When you enroll in Putnam City Virtual classes, you'll be a Putnam City student. You will work with Putnam City counselors and enrollment staff. However, when you sit down at a computer to take courses, at the other end of the connection will be the technology, staff and resources of Edgenuity.
Student Support
When you choose one of our teacher-led online solutions, your students receive both individualized attention and classroom instruction from a certified teacher who is a subject-matter expert. Trained extensively in online learning techniques, our teachers:
Engage and instruct students in a real-time, virtual classroom.
Develop individualized lesson plans for each student.
Track student progress and adjust lesson plans based on individual needs.
Provide individual support via email, phone, LiveLesson® technology, and in-person where practical.
Our teachers become part of your students education— instructing, encouraging, and supporting.
On-Demand Help with Lessons
When your students need a curriculum answer now, the Student Support Line is there to help. For a quick explanation of a concept or clarification of a text passage, students simply click a link in their menu to connect with a live online teacher. The Student Support Line keeps your learners from getting stuck in the curriculum and eases the burden on your on-site staff.
Parents
Parents and educators have the same goal: to provide your child the most engaging and successful educational experience possible.
At Putnam City Virtual, we believe that regular and convenient communication opens the door to student success. We'll start our relationship with a welcome phone call where parents, students and teachers chat to set expectations for everyone. Subsequent monthly calls are an expectation of your virtual education experience, keeping us all in sync about student progress and success.
Parent Account
As a Putnam City Virtual parent, you will be able to monitor your child's progress through your Parent/Guardian Account.
After your student creates an account to sign up for classes, you will create your own account that you will use to monitor course requests and progress in each course. From approving course requests to monitoring progress, the Parent/Guardian Account allows you to have a hands-on approach with your child's virtual academics.
With your Parent/Guardian Account you will have:
24-7 online access to submitted and/or graded assignments and your child's grade book
Monthly phone calls from teachers
Monthly progress reports via e-mail
Regular e-mail updates from teachers
Extensive access to teachers (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily)
How to Apply
Upon completion of the application online, the application will be transmitted to the district's virtual school administrator for review. Once a student's application has been approved, the student will receive an e-mail or phone call from either the administrator or a counselor to discuss course alignment.
Upon completion of a student's course alignment the student will receive email confirmation with login information and instructions on how to begin orientation.
Students will be placed as quickly as possible. In most cases students will be able to begin course work within one to two weeks after completing registration and obtaining the required approvals.
