- Graph a line using slope (8-AA.5)
- Graph a line from an equation in slope-intercept form (8-AA.6)
- Write a linear equation from a slope and y-intercept (8-AA.8)
- Write a linear equation from a graph (8-AA.9)
- Write a linear equation from a slope and a point (8-AA.10)
- Write a linear equation from two points (8-AA.11)
- Complete a table for a linear function (8-BB.10)
- Complete a table and graph a linear function (8-BB.11)
- Write a linear function from a table (8-BB.13)
- Find values using function graphs (8-BB.22)
- Complete a table for a function graph (8-BB.23)
PA.A.2.2 Identify, describe, and analyze linear relationships between two variables.
- Find the slope from two points (8-AA.2)
- Slope-intercept form: find the slope and y-intercept (8-AA.4)
- Interpret points on the graph of a linear function (8-BB.12)
- Compare linear functions: graphs and equations (8-BB.14)
- Compare linear functions: tables, graphs, and equations (8-BB.15)
PA.A.2.3 Identify graphical properties of linear functions including slope and intercepts. Know that the slope equals the rate of change, and that the y-intercept is zero when the function represents a proportional relationship.
- Graph proportional relationships and find the slope (8-K.9)
- Find the slope of a graph (8-AA.1)
- Constant rate of change (8-BB.8)

Physical Science: Watch the video “Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion.” At the end of the video it compares a person (sailor) pushing on a small boat vs. a larger ship and asks the question, “Do you think the ship will have the same acceleration as the sailor?” Discuss the answer to this question, using the video and Newton’s Third Law of Motio as evidence. Then draw a model of your explanation. (MS-PS2-1)
-
Earth & Space Science: Watch the video “How to Track a Tornado.” How has technology helped forecasters predict/describe tornados? Use multiple pieces of evidence from the video to support your explanation. (MS-ESS3-2)

A couple of ACT Math strategies to try!
1) Back solve - To save time you can back solve your problem when you see integers in the answer choices. Start with answer choice C/H unless the question asks for the
2) Pick random numbers to avoid complicated algebra - To save time it is best to not use the algebraic method and to solve it by picking numbers for variables. Avoid picking 0 or 1 because they have special properties.

Phenomenon: The stickleback fish is losing its stickles. Watch the video on Stickleback Fish Environments and do this simulation. During the simulation, investigate what causes the changes in the structures of the stickleback fish over time. Then construct an explanation for how organisms, such as the stickleback fish, change over time based on environmental stresses and demands, genetic traits, alleles, and variation. (HS-LS3-2, HS-LS3-4)

Environmental Science (Unit 5)
-
Phenomenon: Reforestation Effects Earth Systems. Work through the lesson to determine how restoring the world’s forests will affect earth systems. (HS-ESS2-2)
-
-
Chemistry
-
Phenomenon: Solutions with higher concentrations will react faster. Watch this video “Elephant Toothpaste.” Using Collision Theory, explain why a solution with a higher concentration will react faster. Include references (observations) from the video as evidence. (HS-PS1-5)
-
-
Physics
-
Phenomenon: My mother told me my earbuds will give me a brain tumor. Read about electromagnetic radiation, electromagnetic spectrum and electromagnetic waves. Then read Article 1 and Article 2 about electromagnetic radiation (EM) causing health problems in humans. What is the validity and reliability of the information found in both of the articles? Why would an article report misinterpreted information? Why would people read an article that wouldn’t be considered valid and reliable? (HS-PS4-4)

Physical Science
-
Phenomenon: Objects in motion tend to stay in motion. Watch this gif “Changing Forces.” What is going to happen to that truck and where will it end up? Why? Use Newton’s Laws of Motion to explain your answers. These two videos (Newton’s 3 Laws and Crash Course Newton’s Laws) can help you with your explanations. (HS-PS2-1)

ClassLink is referenced several times in the resources above. It is Single Sign On educational resource portal used by Putnam City Schools. ClassLink uses your district login and automatically logs onto many district resources automatically so that students do not have to have multiple passwords for different sites. Many of the resources are based on the student's individual classes, so not every student's ClassLink experience will be the same. Below are some of the resources available through ClassLink by level.
