Language Arts

English Language Arts is the integrated study of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and thinking. The study of English includes knowledge of the language itself, development of its use as a basic means of communication, and appreciation of its artistry as expressed in literature. The development of these skills is a lifelong process and the extent to which they are developed can influence an individual's ability to become self-sufficient and lead a productive life. In addition, 21st century literacy includes the ability to use technology to analyze and synthesize information as well as create information using multi-media texts.

By studying the processes (how people communicate) and the content (what they communicate), students learn the knowledge, skills, and strategies that enable them to solve problems and to think and respond both critically and creatively across all curriculum areas and to real-life situations.
