College and Career Fair

Students from numerous area schools are invited to attend a college and career fair from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center Reno Campus, 7301 West Reno. The West Metro College and Career Fair is free and open to students (in grades 8 through 12) and their parents from 25 schools.

The event is an opportunity for students and their parents to explore numerous college and career options at one time in one location. On hand to share information will be representatives from 36 universities, colleges and technical schools, the armed forces and employers. Students and their parents will be able to browse tables offering information on academic and career options, college and university admissions requirements, and the Oklahoma’s Promise free college tuition program.

In addition to talking informally with college representatives and others knowledgeable about post-secondary options for high schoolers, parents and students will also have the chance to sit in on short presentations by experts on topics such as choosing a college major, obtaining financial aid, concurrent high school and college enrollment and military benefits. A session offered in Spanish will provide information about college applications, scholarships and financial aid.

“This college and career fair is a one of a kind, a one-stop shop to lead students in the right direction and help them prepare for what’s to come in their lives. We want every person who walks out of this college and career fair to feel better prepared for their future and to have found answers that will help them reach their goals,” says Brenda Stinnett, a college counselor at Putnam City High School.

The West Metro College and Career Fair is planned and coordinated by Putnam City Schools and Francis Tuttle.
