Academics

Putnam City Schools has a proud academic tradition. Although Putnam City is the fifth-largest district in the state, it has, historically speaking, the fourth-highest number of Oklahoma Academic Scholars, an honor accorded to students by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. The district also has the fourth-highest number of Academic All-Staters in the state, a recognition bestowed by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. Selection of scholars for this honor has been described by University of Oklahoma President and Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Chairman and Founder David L. Boren as “Oklahoma’s most rigorous academic competition.”

For families with children in the district or about to be in the district, what's more important than tradition is what's going on right now. As has always been the case, Putnam City Schools strives to ensure that all students receive a strong academic foundation.
