My Favorite Elementary Teacher “My 3rd-grade teacher at Overholser Elementary, Ms. McCutchen, was really great. When our class was learning to multiply numbers one through 12, she made up a song for each number, which made memorizing multiplication very easy for me. In fact, in taking multiplication tests, the songs would run through my head and help me. She had other ways to improve our math skills, too, and that year I showed a big jump in my grades. I believe that because of her, I became an honors math student.” —Austin, Putnam City West High School
My Favorite Middle School Teacher “Ms. Meredith, my 7th-grade math teacher at Kenneth Cooper Middle School, made the biggest impact on my life. Not only did she reach out to me as a teacher, but she reached me as a friend. More than any other, she is probably the teacher that made me love math. Now I want to be a math teacher.” —Hannah, Putnam City High School
My Favorite Elementary Teacher “The teacher I remember most is Ms. Litchenburg, my 3rd-grade teacher at Central Intermediate School (now Arbor Grove Elementary). She was funny, but she also really helped me learn my math. The thing I remember most is that before we left her class each day, she gave us a choice of a handshake or a hug. At first I took the handshake, but eventually I traded that in for a hug. I’ll never forget the days in class when she’d say to me ‘Luis, if you ever become famous, don’t forget to mention my name.’ She inspired me to be the best person I can be, and I love her for that.” —Luis, Putnam City High School
My Favorite Middle School Teacher “Ms. Devere at Cooper Middle School made learning science fun. Her class was tough, but worth it. She always had a fun activity and a good, strong lesson to teach us. Going to her class was the favorite part of my day.” —K.T., Putnam City High School

My Favorite Elementary Teacher “The elementary teacher who influenced me the most was Ms. Baum, my 1st-grade teacher at Windsor Hills Elementary. She was always very caring and kind. Anytime someone had a bad day she was always there to comfort us. She also organized an after-school study group that covered more advanced material. Ms. Baum’s study program inspired me to challenge myself and take honors classes.” —Matt, Putnam City West High School
My Favorite Middle School Teacher “Ms. Denker was my favorite teacher at Kenneth Cooper Middle School. She brought excitement and education together better than any teacher I’ve ever had, and made 6th-grade math the most fun class of the day. She had a positive relationship with every one of her students, and those relationships have lasted past 6th-grade. I’ll never forget her.” —Scott, Putnam City High School
