The district is one of just a couple statewide in which each school has degreed certified teachers in the arts in both areas of music and visual art. Arts disciplines such as drama and dance are taught by certified degreed arts teachers beginning in middle school and on into high school with integration existing at the elementary level.
Within the district there is one fine arts coordinator with four arts discipline chairs. The total fine arts faculty district wide totals 97, an increase of 15 since 1994, within 26 schools and an alternative high school. They are known state and nationwide for fine arts education advocacy efforts, curriculum implementation and award winning programs.
A District Fine Arts Planning Team is also part of the educational structure. Each school site has a chairperson on the district team, which promotes the arts integration efforts and the artist-in residence program sponsored by the Oklahoma State Arts Council. The chairs also manage arts planning teams at their own schools.
