First-year Scores for 6th- and 7th-graders
Putnam City 6th-grade and 7th-grade students fared well on state reading and math tests last year, says Dr. Melani Mouse, assistant superintendent of Secondary Education. Because last year was the first year such tests were given in reading and math, no comparisons to previous years can be made.
Grade 6 Results
Every middle school showed 84 percent of students or more scoring satisfactory or advanced in reading, topped by Hefner MIddle School's 91 percent figure. Districtwide, the results were:
- On state reading tests, 86 percent of Putnam City 6th-graders scored satisfactory or advanced in 2006.
- On state math tests, 83 percent of Putnam City 6th-graders scored satisfactory or advanced in 2006.
Grade 7 Results
7th-grade students also scored well on state tests, Mouse says.
- On state reading tests, 85 percent of Putnam City 7th-graders scored satisfactory or
advanced in 2006.
- On state math tests, 81 percent of Putnam City 7th-graders scored satisfactory or
advanced in 2006.
- In the second year of state geography tests, 86 percent of Putnam City 7th-graders
scored satisfactory or advanced in 2006, the same percentage as in 2005.
