Students

In case you didn’t see the news over the summer, Putnam City North High School juniors Sara Whittington and Allie White won second place in the nation in their division at the National Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Convention in Anaheim, Calif., on July 12. The award is the first such recognition in the school’s history. For their project, the two Putnam City North students created a DVD to teach babysitters, workers at child development centers and parents how to use sign language to communicate more effectively with infants and toddlers. The DVD includes demonstration of songs, alphabet letters and key words in sign language that is easy for children and adults to learn and use.

Congratulations to Miles Yeung, a Putnam City High School and Victory School of the Arts student, who placed seventh overall in the Mr. Teen Dance of America at the Dance Masters of America National Championship in New York City. Miles also placed fifth in ballet and sixth in jazz.
