Putnam City North Students Named Hispanic Scholars

Putnam City North High School seniors Caroline Fuller, Ben Cortez and Yousef Martinez have been recognized as Scholars in the 2006 National Hispanic Recognition Program.

The National Hispanic Recognition Program was initiated in 1983 by the College Board to provide national recognition of the exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors and identify them for postsecondary institutions.

Students enter the National Hispanic Recognition Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) as high school juniors and identifying themselves as Hispanic. This year more than 175,000 PSAT/NMSQT takers nationwide identified themselves as Hispanic. The three Putnam City North students are members of a select group of 4,700 students recognized as National Hispanic Scholars or Honorable Mention Finalists based upon their test scores and academic achievements.
