Teacher is Magic

Susan Baker, a science teacher at Putnam City North High School, was honored on Sept. 28 as KMGL’s Magic Teacher of the Week. 104.1 Magic Man Jeff Roberts visited the school to surprise Baker with the announcement.

Baker was honored as a result of an e-mail written by a Putnam City North student. The e-mail read:

"My teacher, Mrs. Susan Baker, is the most caring, considerate, heartfelt woman I have ever met. She was my freshman Honors Biology teacher, but now, as a senior, she continues to be an inspiration to me.

Primarily, she taught my class in a way few teachers do. During her lectures, she would explain things when we couldn’t understand them, instead of just putting notes up on the board. She always had a fun project or experiment for us as well.

But over the years I have learned much more from her than just what she taught us in Biology class. Even through multiple back surgeries, she showed how a person can have continue to have a positive attitude and persevere. She currently has a son in the military, and that is yet to faze her.

This woman is the most incredible person I have ever met. She has been there for me when I need someone to talk to, or just to have a smile meet me in the hall. Mrs. Baker would be a perfect choice for your Teacher Feature contest."

As a weekly winner of Magic 104’s Teacher Feature, Baker received a $50 Mardel Gift Card, dinner for two at Steak ‘N’ Ale, flowers from Porter’s Flower Shop, a free gift from Sylvan Learning Center and a free one-hour massage from Heavenly Hands. She will also be placed in a drawing for a trip for two to Jamaica.
