Putnam City Parents Can Now Go Online to Check Student Grades, Attendance and More
You want to know what assignments your son is receiving in school. You want to check on your daughter’s grades. You want to receive an e-mail if your child missed a class or failed to turn in homework. Thanks to a new online service called ParentCONNECT, Putnam City parents can now have all that and more.
ParentCONNECT is an online service that offers parents free access to their children’s school information. Parents of all students can view their children’s attendance, check their immunization records, read school announcements and verity personal information such as address and phone numbers. Parents of students in grades 3 through 12 can also view student assignments and grades. In addition, the site provides an easy way to trade e-mails with teachers, and parents can choose to receive automatic e-mail updates on unexplained absences, missing homework, poor grades and more.
ParentCONNECT is already proving popular. The service launched over the summer and so far more than 2,200 Putnam City families have signed up to use it. It’s proving effective, too. One high school principal tells about a mother who received a ParentCONNECT e-mail at work telling her that her son had missed a class that morning. The mother left work, drove home, found her son and delivered him back to school.
ParentCONNECT is available to every parent or legal guardian who has a child enrolled in a Putnam City school and is listed as the parent on the student’s enrollment records. Putnam City parents who wish to sign up for ParentCONNECT should visit https://parentconnect.putnamcityschools.org
"We don’t expect or even want ParentCONNECT to take the place of parent-teacher conferences, phone calls or any kind of interaction that takes place now between parents and school staff. We see ParentCONNECT as an added tool to make sure there is the strong school to-home connection that helps students succeed," says Dr. Jim Capps, superintendent of Putnam City Schools.
ParentCONNECT FAQ How do parents sign up for ParentCONNECT? To register for ParentCONNECT, parents should go to https://parentconnect.putnamcityschools.org
Parents may get to the same spot by visiting the district’s website at www.putnamcityschools.org or the website of their child’s school. Each site has a ParentCONNECT icon. Clicking on the icon will take parents to the ParentCONNECT page, where on-screen instructions will guide them through the registration process.
Within five working days after registering online, parents will receive e-mail notification that their registration has been processed. Upon receipt of the e-mail notification, they will need to visit the district’s ParentCONNECT office at 5401 N.W. 40th to receive their user name and password, which will allow them to access ParentCONNECT.
For confidentiality and security reasons, parents must provide photo ID in order to receive a user name and password. Only the parent registered in the system can pick up the user name and pass code. Students will not be allowed to pick up the password information for the parent.
The ParentCONNECT office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For parents who are not able to come by during those hours, the ParentCONNECT office is open until 6 p.m. on nights when there is a board of education meeting.
Is ParentCONNECT information secure? As a parent, your access to ParentCONNECT is password protected and linked only to your child. That means you are authorized to view your child’s records, but you cannot see the records of anyone else’s child.
Where can parents get more information? For more information, parents may call Putnam City’s ParentCONNECT office at 495-5200, ext. 1260, or send an e-mail to parentconnect@putnamcityschools.org
