Seven district high school students were selected in mid-October to be part of the 2005-2006 Youth Leadership Exchange (YLX), Leadership Oklahoma City officials have announced.
Hunter Ligon of Putnam City High School and Christine Harris and Madison Mélon of Putnam City North High School are part of YLX’s Leadership Skills Program.
Anna Imose of Putnam City High and Whitney Bass, Natalie Coleman and Cally Kingsley of Putnam City North are part of YLX’s Youth in Action Program.
The Leadership Skills Program focuses on general community leadership skills such as group dynamics, goal-setting, rights and responsibilities, and personal leadership skills. Leadership Skills class members make site visits to many local community organizations, schools, and businesses and spend time in training sessions such as a mock trial and jury deliberations.
The Youth in Action Program focuses on advanced community leadership skills such as facilitation techniques, decision-making and fund raising. Youth in Action class members select community projects for funding. The projects are funded through money from Leadership Oklahoma City and matching funds raised by class members working in teams to involve local donors.
