Putnam City High School seniors Angelo Trigoso and Angela Peralta were each awarded a $500 scholarship at the annual TREE (Tomás Rivera Educational Empowerment) Conference at OU in early November. Putnam City High was the only school that had two scholarship recipients.
The Putnam City North pom squad will perform at the Oklahoma Centennial Celebration to be held at the Ford Center on Nov. 16. They will be sharing the stage with such famous Oklahomans as Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, The Flaming Lips and the All-American Rejects.
The cast and crew of Putnam City North's one-act play, Necessary Targets, placed second at regional one-act play competition at Del City High School on Oct. 11. The crew received the first place technical award for set, costumes, lights, sound and make-up, and students Tabor Bien and Tyler Wood were two of just 10 students named to the All-Regional Cast. The students qualified for state competition on Oct. 25, where they placed eighth. Kelsey Fisher was named to the All State Cast.
Tulakes Elementary 3rd-grader Rachel Curl from Tulakes Elementary School won third place at the Oklahoma State Fair Spelling Bee. Rachel took home a ribbon and a certificate even though every other contestant was a 4th-grader. The contest was won by Lake Park student Kayleigh Peters.
