The community is invited to view outstanding art in a variety of mediums and visit with artists from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at the opening reception of the Putnam City Visual Arts Educators Exhibit in the west gallery of the district's administration building, 5401 N.W. 40th.
Barbara Gabel, arts coordinator for the district, says the show is unique because of the variety of art that will be on display. Art teachers experiment in and master many mediums in order to teach them to students. The exhibit will showcase work of teachers in watercolor, pencil, oil, acrylic, photography, ceramics, handmade paper, clay sculpture, weaving, collage, woodworking, glass and other media.
Visitors to the exhibit will enjoy the high quality of the work, Gabel says.
"To teach art you have to be constantly learning art and putting that learning into play. These are creative, imaginative and talented people, and their work reflects that," Gabel says.
The work will continue on display through Tuesday, Dec. 19.
