The Oklahoma City Community Foundation presented $18,000 in Foundation of Promise Scholar awards and Community Foundation Scholar awards to 15 students from Putnam City high schools.
The Foundation of Promise Scholars program provides scholarships for students who will be the first in their family to attend college. Upon successful completion of required activities designed to assist in preparation for college, students are eligible for a $1,200 scholarship to any accredited post-secondary educational institution.
Foundation of Promise Scholars in Putnam City were Jenefar DeLeon and Sarah Littrell of Putnam City High School; and Chau Lam, Van Lam and Amanda McBride of Putnam City North High School.
The Community Foundation Scholars program rewards good students who are also good citizens.
Recipients are students who might not otherwise qualify for awards based solely on academic standards but have shown a desire and ability to pursue a post high school education. Each student is awarded a $1,200 scholarship.
Community Foundation Scholars in Putnam City were Trent Baker, Gregory Hilovsky, Victor Huerta and Ashley Moore of Putnam City High School; Austin Darrow, Veronica Hart, Anna Mallory and Madison Melon of Putnam City North High School; and DaNisha Blackmon, Ekaette Umon and Maria Velasco of Putnam City West High School.
