Nominations Due Soon for Award for Volunteer Working with Youth

If you know an adult in Oklahoma County who is an extraordinary volunteer with youth, here’s a chance to see that energy and dedication recognized.

Each year, the Youth Leadership Exchange (YLX) recognizes an adult who has done sustained and significant volunteer work with the youth of central Oklahoma. This award, the Clyde Benn Service to Youth Award, is given in memory of Benn, a former director of the Office of Minority Health in Oklahoma City.

The honor includes a $2500 cash award to the youth serving organization of the recipient's choice. Nominations are due on March 15, 2006.

The nomination must be for a volunteer who has a sustained and significant commitment to active service to youth.

Individuals may not be nominated for work they do with youth for which they are paid. For example, an unpaid volunteer coach would be eligible; a paid coach would not be eligible.

Nominations are accepted from metropolitan Oklahoma City individuals, non-profits, churches or other faith organizations, schools, sports associations and other organizations and groups that work with young people locally.

Nominations are limited to no more than three double-spaced, 10-point font pages. Please be sure to include contact information for you, the nominator, and your nominee.
