One of basketball’s most enjoyable teams, the Harlem Entertainers, will play in a benefit basketball game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, in the Putnam City West High School gymnasium, 8500 N.W. 23rd.
The Harlem Entertainers, known as the "professional clowns of the court, will be matched against four local teams, including one composed of Putnam City West students, coaches, and administrators.
People who attend the game can expect to enjoy it, says Putnam City West Tyrea Craig.
"The question people always have is if they are comedians who play basketball or basketball players who do comedy. If you’ve seen them, you know the answer is both. It’s great comedy and great basketball in one package," she says.
In addition to the game, the evening’s entertainment will also include the Multicultural Steppers, the Putnam City West High School drumline and Drums Across the City, a well-known local drumline.
Door prizes are also part of the evening, with Sonic coupons, Swadley's Bar-B-Que gift certificates, Oklahoma City Hornets memorabilia, Walmart gift cards and more available to be won by people attending the game.
Tickets at the door are $6 for students and $7 for adults. The game is a fundraiser for Putnam City West’s Multicultural Society. Proceeds will help finance Multicultural Society events and Step Team uniforms and competition expenses. A portion of proceeds will be donated to an effort which provides displaced Hurricane Katrina and Rita survivors with free monthly free care.
