Foundation Awards Scholarships to Student, Teachers

The Putnam City Public Schools Foundation has announced its 2006 scholarship recipients.

Christine Philip, senior at Putnam City West High School, received the Carol Casey Scholarship in the amount of $1,500. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Carol Casey, former nurse and health services coordinator of Putnam City Schools. Philip has applied to the University of Oklahoma as well as Southern Nazerene University.

Janet Shelley-Ramer, Business Education teacher at Putnam City West, received the Ralph Downs Scholarship in the amount of $500. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of C. Ralph Downs, former Putnam City teacher, counselor, principal and superintendent. Shelley-Ramer is currently seeking a master’s degree at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Ricklan Holmes, Technology Education teacher at Kenneth Cooper Middle School, received the Roberta Jo Lowe Scholarship in the amount of $500. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Roberta Jo Lowe, a former faculty member of Hefner Middle School. Holmes plans to continue his education by pursing a master’s degree in administration at a local university.
