Student Achievements
Amanda Mayo of Putnam City West High School was named semifinalist in the Coca-Cola Scholars' Program. She is one of 2,000 students across the nation chosen for the honor.
Congratulations are in order for both Hefner Middle School 8th-grade quiz bowl teams. Hefner Team II, consisting of Josh Schlegel, Kolbi Moles, Arash Ghazanfari, Hunter Burke, Andy Welch, Jace James and Thomas Bainbridge, came in first place at the recent district tournament held at Jarman Junior High. Team I, consisting of Chris McIntosh, Ian Garcia, Sam Wolfe, Ethan Lax, Veronica Senkowski, Jason Maki, Chris Covey and Armon Provo, came in second place.
Andrea Bryan of Putnam City West High School is one of about 1,300 African American high school seniors across the nation to be named a National Achievement Program Finalist. Bryan continues in competition for about 800 National Achievement $2500 Scholarships and corporate-sponsored awards that will be announced in early April. In September, Bryan was named a semifinalist in National Achievement Program.
