Putnam City North Cheer Squad Wins Nationals Again
Putnam City North High School’s cheerleaders won their second national championship in a row over the holidays, taking first place in the large varsity division of the National Cheerleaders Association Senior and Junior High School National Championships Dec. 28-29 at the Dallas Convention Center.
More than 3,200 cheerleaders representing 200 teams from across the country competed in 22 divisions during the two-day event.
The large varsity division is for squads with 16 to 20 members. With a score of 9.42 on a 10-point scale, Putnam City North’s squad topped 16 other cheerleading squads from 11 states to win the division.
Earlier this year, Putnam City North’s cheer squad won the state cheerleading championship in OSSAA competition.
