Centennial Celebration
Schools throughout Putnam City celebrated Oklahoma's centennial in November. Below are photos of a few of the celebrations.

At Harvest Hills Elementary Schoool, the centennial celebration included a parade on the school's track (left) and a Jingle Dance performed by a student (right). |  |  |

At Central Elementary Schoool (left), students learned about and portrayed famous Oklahomans. At Ralph Downs Elementary (right), students performed "What A Place, What A Land," an event that included a student signing Native American sign language during the play. |  |  | At Central Intermediate School (left), students visited booths that taught about Oklahoma's culture and heritage, learning about subjects such as tornadoes, famous Oklahomans, Native American dancing, state symbols, rodeos and many more. At Wiley Post Elementary School (right), student-made floats, including this buffalo, were paraded through the school and used to teach Oklahoma facts.

Former governor George Nigh and other luminaries were also part of the assembly. Hefner Middle School drama, band and orchestra students (right) visited the State Capitol to perfom scenes and songs from "Oklahoma" in the rotunda. | |
