Fran Sylvester of Overholser Elementary is the Heartland Rotary Club teacher of the month for December.
Putnam City High School’s Susan Harding has been named Oklahoma’s Foreign Language Teacher of the Year.
Putnam City Schools is featured in the December 2004 issue of Education In Hand. The article, "Handhelds Motivate Teachers and Students in Oklahoma Schools, quotes both Terri Boswell, instructional technologist, and Bob Melton, science cooridinator.
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has awarded a $3,000 Agency Capacity Building Grant to the Putnam City Public Schools Foundation for website and electronic newsletter development.
Art students from Putnam City high schools were honored in the 2004 High School Print and Drawing Competition sponsored by the Norick Art Center at Oklahoma City University. Of the 152 pieces of art judged into the show, 43 -- or 28 percent -- were created by Putnam City students. Two Putnam City High School students and three Putnam City West High School students won awards.
Twenty-nine band students from Putnam City middle schools and high schools were selected as members of the 2004-2005 Central Oklahoma Director Association Honors Band.
Forty-six orchestra students from Putnam City high schools were selected as members of the North Central Honors Orchestra.
Forty-five orchestra students from Putnam City middle schools were selected as members of the Central Oklahoma Honors Orchestra.
