At Rollingwood Elementary School, Ms. Worley’s 5th-grade class all entered the poster contest for Oklahoma Heritage Week. Mason McDown won first place for Oklahoma County. He received a proclamation from Governor Henry and was presented a $75 check by former Governor George Nigh and First Lady Kim Henry.
Hefner Middle School students took home a number of trophies from the state TIVY Tournament. In 6th-grade, individual prize winners were Luke Adams, first place; Christina Cheng, second place; and Sean Burton, third place. In 7th-grade, individual prize winners were Kaitie Giza, first place, and Aaron Krominga, third place. In 8th-grade, individual prize winners Melanie McNatt, second place, and Tripp Walcher, third place. In the overall school categories, Hefner won first place in all three grade level.

Alisa Ballard, a 2005 graduate from Putnam City North High School, won the Gabriela Mistral award from Brown University earlier this fall. The prize is awarded to members of the freshman class who show excellence in secondary school preparatory work in Spanish.
2004 Putnam City North graduate Jada Jedlicka was crowned Oklahoma Czech Queen earlier this fall at the annual Czech Festival in Yukon. Jada’s parents are Putnam City West High School teacher Joanie Jedlicka and Putnam City North High School teacher and coach Tom Jedlicka.
