Hard-core Softball Players Win Awards
Putnam City’s softball teams concluded successful seasons in late October with a number of players receiving individual honors. One player was named All-State, 11 earned All-Conference honors and 12 were members of the All-Tribune team picked by The Tribune newspaper.
From Putnam City High School, Lauren McGinley was named an All-State utility player. McGinley, Alicia Barkley, Fallon Bradshaw and Cara Phelps were named All-Conference. The same four players were also named All-Tribune.
From Putnam City North High School, Stefanie Hardesty was named All-Region. Kelsie Goochey, Kaylen Woosley, Sara Gower, Lauren Walk and Caitlin Cotton were named All-Conference and All-Tribune. Putnam City North Coach Mitsy Shaklee, who guided the team to a conference championship, was name Conference Coach of the Year and Tribune Coach of the Year.
From Putnam City West High School, Carey Crump and Jessica Miller were named All-Conference. Crump and Miller were joined on the All-Tribune team by teammate Madison Light.
