Three Hilldale Elementary School students have their work hanging in an exhibit of dinosaur art at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History in Norman. The artwork of fourth-grader Austin Young and fiifth-graders Josue Gonzalez and Segala Tita was entered in the International Dinosaur Art Contest and chosen for inclusion in the resulting exhibit. In mid-May, a reception will be held for all exhibited artists.
The Dinosaur Art Contest began as a way to encourage dinosaur enthusiasts of all ages to develop their scientific knowledge and artistic skills as they created drawings, paintings, and sculpture for exhibit at the museum. The 2007 contest is the 12th dinosaur art contest to be sponsored by the museum.
This year the contest received 2,395 works of art from all over the country and from students and artists in France, China, Japan, India, Cuba, Singapore, Poland, Romania, Korea, the Philippines, and Turkey.
