Bonds and Your Taxes
Low Taxes for Support of Putnam City Schools
Most of property taxes that support public schools are locked by law at a certain level. There is one category of property taxes for school support, though, that can be increased or decreased. This category is known as "sinking fund mills."
Mills are tenths of a cent. A tax rate of one mill produces $1 of revenue on $1,000 of assessed value. A tax rate of 25 mills produces $25 of revenue on $1,000 of assessed value. The more mills are assessed, the higher your taxes are.
Compared to many school districts, taxes paid by Putnam City residents for their schools are low.
