2007 Bond Update
In March 2007 voters in the Putnam City school district approved a $30.5 million bond proposal to maintain and improve school buildings and sustain well-equipped, high-quality learning environments.
Some projects will start in the summer of 2007. Because the bond money is issued to the district in yearly increments, other projects would start in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Here's how bond funds have been or will be used:
First Release of Bond Funds, July 2007 ($12,455,000)
Complete
· Replace portions of roof at Western Oaks Elementary School
· Install classroom doors at Ralph Downs Elementary School
· Replace emergency stairs at Wiley Post Elementary School
· Purchase of new sewing machines and cabinets for Putnam City West High School
· Update hood controls in kitchens for emergency shutdown
· Lockers for Cooper Middle School 7th-grade football team
· Purchase textbooks
· Replace deteriorating plaster gym walls at Capps Middle School
· Improvements and additions to technology
· New school building to replace Central Elementary School
· Complete fencing around perimeter of Hefner Middle School
· Upgrade and replace safety equipment in high school science labs
· Replace portions of roof at Putnam City West High School
· Replace portions of roof at Western Oaks Middle School

· Add additional electrical outlets/circuits in older schools
· Adding parking areas and paving as needed

Second Release of Bond Funds, January 2008 ($1,320,000)

· Truck for Child Nutrition Department (16' box truck with lift)
