American Dream Ivonne D'Acunha, a bilingual assistant at Arbor Grove Elementary School, became an American citizen in late April. D'Acunha, in her second year at Arbor Grove, helps new Spanish-speaking students feel comfortable at school because they can easily connect with an adult in the building who speaks their language. She calls Spanish-speaking parents to let them know what is happening at school and to share ideas about what they can do to help their child at home. She translates anything the school sends home with students so that all parents are well informed. |
