Coach Tom PecorePutnam City North High School social studies teacher and boys’ soccer coach Tom Pecore is one of seven coaches in the nation to be named a winner of the 2008 Positive Coaching Alliance National Youth Sports Awards. The Double-Goal Coach®Award winners exemplify the characteristics of a Double-Goal Coach, one who strives to win while using sports to teach life lessons. All winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip for two people to  attend the National Youth Sports Awards dinner at Stanford University in mid-April. Apollo Elementary School Principal Barbara Crump is one of 15 elementary principals in Oklahoma to be named a district administrator of the year by the Oklahoma Association of Elementary School Principals (OAESP). The honor puts her in the running for Oklahoma Administrator of the Year. Criteria for selection includes maintaining high expectations for students and staff, making outstanding contributions to their school and profession and being an established, respected member of the community.

Julia Tiller of Wiley Post Elementary School has been selected as Heartland Rotary Club Teacher of the Month for February. Teta Turner of Windsor Hills Elementary School was honored by the club in January. Other Heartland honorees this school year include Julie Harris of Will Rogers Elementary School, Melissa McMillon of Western Oaks Elementary School, Joann Rogers of Tulakes Elementary School and Luke Steelman of Cooper Middle School.

 Jan Hulsey of Putnam City North High School was named “Exemplary Teacher” by the Oklahoma Music Educators Association at the mid-January convention of the Oklahoma Music Educators Association.
