Learning Online Will Rogers Elementary School students are making use of a new computer lab purchased with a grant from the Oklahoma Educational Technology Trust (OETT). Central Intermediate School also received a grant. Both schools were visited by representatives of OETT in mid-January.

Reaching Out to Hispanic FamiliesTo help meet the needs of the school’s growing Hispanic population, Putnam City High School is hosting informational gatherings for Spanish-speaking parents.

Tsunami Relief Archbishop Beltran accepts a check for $4,000 from Putnam City North students. The funds will be used by Catholic Relief Services to help people affected by the tsunami. Putnam City North students also collected more than 120 boxes of supplies, which they gave to Feed the Children for use in tsunami relief. Students in many district schools have donated money and goods to relief efforts.

The Magic of Education Magician Jonathan Panze (left) showed some sleight of hand during a visit with a Putnam City West special education class in late December. Students were treated to the performance after months of working on academics, communication, mobility, socialization and job preparation.

Students Don’t Let Math Skills Slide First-graders at Overholser Elementary School used a slide, trees, hallways and even school secretaries to practice estimating skills. Students first estimated how many links it would take to stretch the width or length of a designated object (or secretary), then measured and recorded their answer.
