Dinner and Music Offered by Putnam City High School Band

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, area residents are invited to enjoy dinner and concert benefitting a band of pirates – or more to the point, the Pirate Band of Putnam City High School. The 5:30 p.m. catered dinner and 7 p.m. free concert will take place at Putnam City High School, 5300 N.W. 50th.

Dinner
For people yearning for Italian food, the evening begins in the school’s new cafeteria with a dinner catered by Carino's. For $12, guests will get a salad, choice of pasta dish and sauce, dessert and more.

Dinner tickets are on sale now and must be purchased by Friday, Jan. 27. Tickets may be obtained from any Putnam City High band student or from band directors Darby Cassaday (789-4350, x2064, dcassaday@putnamcityschools.org) or Bradley Crowe (bcrowe@putnamcityschools.org). Dinner tickets will not be sold at the door.

Concert
The free concert begins at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium. The auditorium, known for its outstanding acoustic qualities, will host both the Pirate Band and the band from Kenneth Cooper Middle School.

Among the music to be performed will be “Scenes of Wonder,” by Mark Williams; “Sound Innovations Fanfare,” by Robert Sheldon; “The Chimes of Liberty,” by Edwin Franko-Goldman; and “Be Thou My Vision,” by Jack Stamp.

A special guest conductor will also be part of the evening. Jim Hooper, an Oklahoma Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame member who is also the district’s executive director of Operations, will conduct the Putnam City High School Wind Symphony on John Philip Sousa's classic march, "The Thunderer".

“What’s not to like? This is a great way to save time and energy by treating your family to a night of no cooking, no dishes, and talented young musicians,” says Cassaday.
