Eighty-six choir students from six district elementary and middle schools have been selected to be part of Region O's Circle the State with Song Festival. The students will have an opportunity to perform in a festival on Jan. 28 at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.
Students are chosen to represent their school in the Circle the State With Song festival based on outstanding ability in vocal performance, ability to learn challenging music and exceptional behavior.
On the day of the festival, students attend an all-day rehearsal with a guest conductor to polish the music within their sections and as a group. The day concludes with a final performance for parents, relatives, friends and members of the community.
“The music students learn as part of Circle the State with Song is two and three parts and often includes at least one foreign language. It challenges students and allows them to participate with other musically talented students,” says Katie Robertson, music teacher at Ralph Downs Elementary School.
