Teacher Job Fair
In 2010 Putnam City Schools will host its sixth annual teacher job fair.
If you wish to teach in one of Oklahoma's premier school districts, the job fair is a great opportunity. Each year, about half of our new teachers are people we talked to at our job fair.
Putnam City is known for its strong academics, extensive support for new teachers, high salaries and good benefits. Come check us out!
What to Expect
When you visit our job fair, you'll have a chance to interview with a principal or assistant principal at the elementary, middle school or high school level.
We know from evaluations that people who attend our job fair want more than anything to have a job interview with a school principal. That means for the most part, our principals will be busy conducting those interviews. They won't have much time to be out visiting informally with people attending the job fair.
That's why we also make it possible for you talk with teachers who teach your grade level, your area of certification and sometimes at the school or schools you're most interested in. That's why we provide Job Fair Central, a roomful of teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators who can talk to you about support for new teachers, professional development and more. If you want to know the many ways in which we'll support you, or if you want to get information about school and school district culture, we've got people on hand who will talk to with you.
Check for Openings
Before and after the job fair, be sure to check this website each day for new job openings. As soon as you see a position for which you qualify, submit your application. It will become then become available not only to the principal at that school, but to principals at other schools who may at some point have similar openings. 
Date and Place
Putnam City's Teacher Job Fair will take place from
2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, in the district's administration building, 5401 N.W. 40th.

For your convenience, you can sign up online in advance for an interview time. That way you can be assured of having an interview at a time that best fits your schedule.
What Happens After the Job Fair
The job fair is your chance to meet people and let them know you want to teach in our schools. After the job fair, as positions become vacant principals will select applicants for additional interview. They'll do so by talking with other principals to learn what good candidates they interviewed at the job fair. They'll check interviewer notes from the job fair and find out from teachers what prospective new teachers they visited with.
