|The mission of Putnam City Schools is to prepare our students to be responsible citizens and lifelong learners. It's a mission in which we are succeeding. Consider:
In the 28 years Academic All-Staters have been named by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, 116 Putnam City students have been so honored, the third-highest number of any school system in the state. Selection of scholars for this honor has been described by University of Oklahoma President and Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Chairman and Founder David L. Boren as "Oklahoma’s most rigorous academic competition."
In 2014 38 district students were named Oklahoma Academic Scholars by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Putnam City, the state’s fifth-largest school district, has the third-highest number of Oklahoma Academic Scholars all-time.
One district student in 2014 was named a National Merit Finalist. In the last 27 years, 216 district students have been National Merit Finalists, one of the highest totals among state school districts.
In 2014 our graduating seniors received more than $9.6 million in scholarships from universities across the nation.
Whether you're talking about district students or the district as a whole, Putnam City is at the head of the class.
