Role Models Twenty kindergarten students at Arbor Grove Elementary School meet on a regular basis with 5th-graders for extra work on concepts they are learning in class. Through interaction with older students, the mentoring time also give younger students a chance to build social skills. The program has improved the young students’ understanding of material, ability to follow instructions and succeed in class. The mentoring time has also been positive for 5th-grade students who strive to be good role models for the kindergarten students.
